About the project

The Alaska Center's three venues — the 2,000-seat Atwood Concert Hall, the Discovery Theatre, and the Sydney Laurence Theatre — had been running on analog signal processing and distribution for decades. The analog chain had become the limiting factor: limited routing flexibility, no networked control, and aging processors that could no longer be maintained or expanded.

The core of the project was a facility-wide migration to networked Digital Signal Processing, replacing the analog distribution and processing backbone with a DSP platform that gives each venue independent control of EQ, delay, routing, and zoning while sharing infrastructure across the complex. Alongside the DSP cutover, the main loudspeaker systems in all three venues were retuned — dual-FFT measurement, array re-alignment, and coverage verification — to take full advantage of the precision the new processors make available.
